All FOH Positions: Bartenders, Servers, Runners, & Bussers

District Winery is looking for motivated professionals to join the team at our new restaurant and winery in the Navy Yard.

We are excited to be a part of the neighborhood and are looking forward to serving Modern American fare in a relaxed yet refined setting, alongside a strong wine list and craft cocktails. Ideal candidates should have solid service experience, be creative, and be interested in a serious commitment to a growing company. 

Server

Provide service to dining room tables for food & beverage
Guide guests through the dining experience, including providing food & beverage suggestions, offering tastings and flights of our wines, and providing exemplary knowledge of all our offerings
Complete all opening, closing and running sidework, including but not limited to: setting tables, re-stocking service station, linen folding, polishing glassware
Running food from kitchen to guests in dining room and bar area
Delivering drinks from service bar area to dining room guests
Bussing and pre-bussing of tables as necessary, keeping tables clean and clear of excess clutter
Optimize guests’ comfort level and controlling the flow of service
Service is casual, yet polished. Every table should leave knowing that we make all of our own wine and that we sell them at retail prices to go
Constantly keep an eye on teammates and provide assistance when needed

Bartender

Work with management to create unique house cocktails based on restaurant guidelines
Assist with putting away beverage orders
Adhere to all requirements for servers
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked bar at all times
Verbally acknowledge every guest at the bar within 30 seconds
Assist all staff by being a source of knowledge for all beverages
Accurately record all wastes, shift drinks, comps and tastes for each service
Communicate with runners, bussers and management throughout service on items needed
Create regulars by getting to know bar guests and their habits
Responsible for closing down the restaurant each night, which includes but is not limited to cleaning all floors and floor mats, sealing and wiping down all bottles, organizing end of day financials, etc.
Working with management to provide periodical spirits training to staff
Adhere to DCW standardized recipes for house cocktails and batch items

Runner

Work with chef to expedite food from kitchen to guests in the dining room and bar areas
Bussing and pre-bussing of guests at tables and bar
Deliver food to guests and announcing the name of the dish clearly and cleanly
Maintaining expo station, including garnish upkeep, torchons, plate wipes
Set up and break down coffee station.
Assist servers in cleaning and resetting of tables when guests leave
Assist staff in closing down restaurant by cleaning floors, bar mats, taking out trash, putting away cut fruit, etc.

Busser

Assist servers and bartenders with pre bussing and bussing dirty plates and glasses
Pour water for guests and keep water bottles filled
Deliver food to guests and announcing the name of the dish clearly and cleanly
Keep service stations stocked with glassware, share plates and silverware
Keep bar stocked of items as needed throughout service, such as ice, fruit, sodas, flatware, linens
Polish flatware and glassware throughout service
Clear and reset tables
Assist staff in closing down restaurant by cleaning floors, bar mats, taking out trash, putting away cut fruit, etc.
