Restaurant Manager

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for managing the District Winery restaurant and tasting bar operations,  including overseeing front of house supervisors and hourly staff. The goal of this position is to represent the Company’s best interests, ensure that District Winery operates at the highest level of quality, and provides exemplary customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper staffing levels
  • Set employee schedules on a weekly basis, providing a minimum of a projected 2-week schedule for hourly FOH staff members
  • Facilitate weekly Restaurant Managers meeting to go over restaurant goals, priorities and concerns, as well as pre-shift training
  • Work with Kitchen & Winery to ensure that new product launches are integrated seamlessly into the menu
  • Edit and update electronic and physical menu files
  • Ensure that good, open communication exists between restaurant staff and management
  • Devise,create and implement all FOH training. This should include but not be limited to new hire training and testing along with continuing staff education including the weekly staff training curriculum.
  • Oversee inventory and ordering of restaurant china/silver/glass, alcohol, paper goods, and other service related items.
  • Manage POS system and organization including current staff members and all menu items.
  • Respond to general contact us and other inquiries related to the restaurant and tasting bar.
  • Promote and implement relevant Restaurant Marketing promotions and specials
  • Work with Office & Human Resource Manager to ensure restaurant employees are properly onboarded/offboarded and employee paperwork is in good standing
  • Aid in creation, revision, and implementation of SOPs, policies & procedures
  • Manage restaurant reservations including, but not limited to, responding to reservation inquiries, large party requests, date night packages and general OpenTable maintenance
  • Manage large party inquiries and execution
  • Interact with guests throughout service to monitor satisfaction and ensure a positive and memorable experience
  • Lead the team in service, ensuring that all standards are adhered to
  • Actively coach the team throughout service, providing ongoing feedback and development
  • Manage the restaurant’s appearance and atmosphere
  • Address any guest issues and work towards a positive outcome
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the restaurant and tasting bar
  • Maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in restaurant management
  • Must have a passion for service and hospitality
  • Flexible schedule with weekends and nights available
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and outgoing
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with people at all levels
  • A positive and adaptable approach to problem solving
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge and use of computer and basic programs (e.g., Google Suite including Google Docs & Spreadsheets)
  • Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced environment, competently handling demanding deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with clients; must demonstrate professional phone and business etiquette
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of and appreciation of wine strongly preferred
