Assistant Wine Bar Manager

The Assistant Wine Bar Manager is responsible for managing the District Winery wine bar operations, including managing, coaching and directing the hourly staff. The goal of this position is to represent the Company’s best interests, ensure that District Winery operates at the highest level of quality, and provides exemplary customer satisfaction. 

Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities 

  • Ensure the wine bar operates as per Company vision and standards 
  • Work with supervisor to create a superb and consistent customer experience 
  • Maintain a positive, productive, organized, and safe environment for all employees in line with Employee Handbook and Company values and local, state and federal regulations

Operational & Administrative Responsibilities 

  • Maintain proper staffing levels 
  • Attend weekly meeting to go over goals, priorities and concerns, as well as pre-shift training 
  • Edit and update electronic and physical menu files 
  • Facilitate communication between staff and management 
  • Implement and enforce all FOH training. This should include but not be limited to new hire training and testing along with continuing staff education including the weekly staff training curriculum. 
  • Respond to general contact and other inquiries related to the wine bar. 
  • Assist with implementation of relevant marketing promotions and specials 
  • Work with Office & Human Resource Manager to ensure employees are properly onboarded/offboarded and employee paperwork is compliant 
  • Perform employee evaluations and provide input into decision-making concerning staff discipline, promotions and separations. 
  • Aid in creation, revision, and implementation of SOPs, policies & procedures 
  • Manage reservations including, but not limited to, responding to reservation inquiries, large party requests, date night packages and general OpenTable maintenance 
  • Manage large party inquiries and execution 

Service & Floor Responsibilities 

  • Interact with guests throughout service to monitor satisfaction and ensure a positive and memorable experience 
  • Lead the team in service, ensuring that all standards are adhered to 
  • Actively coach the team throughout service, providing ongoing feedback and development 
  • Manage the wine bar’s appearance and atmosphere 
  • Address any guest issues and work towards a positive outcome 
  • Perform opening and closing procedures 
  • Maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff
  • Maintain active ABRA license
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Health standards and guidelines 

Requirements 

  • Experience in restaurant management 
  • Maintain a current ABRA Manager license 
  • TIPs Certified 
  • Must have a deep passion for service, hospitality, and providing memorable guest experiences 
  • Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, nights and holidays 
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and outgoing 
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with people at all levels 
  • Desire to provide leadership to a team, and to inspire and cultivate each member individually 
  • Maintain a positive and adaptable approach to problem solving 
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment 
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge and use of computer and basic programs (e.g., Aloha POS, Open Table) 
  • Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills 
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, competently handling demanding deadlines 
  • Ability to analyze department operations, identify areas of improvement, provide data-based support, and present findings, solutions, and recommendations to senior management 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with clients; must demonstrate professional phone and business etiquette 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Knowledge of and appreciation of wine strongly preferred
